Improving Dental Health – Tips by your Surrey Dental Clinic

What can you do to maintain or improve your dental health? Here are some tips by your Surrey Dental Clinic, City Dental Centre

No one really wants to have cavities in their teeth. And some people are unaware that if you don’t maintain healthy teeth and gums that you are susceptible to diseases such as endocarditis (infection of the inner lining of the heart). So what are some of the things that you can do to improve your dental health at home as oppose to at your Surrey dental clinic?

A Good Daily Dental Routine

It may be the most obvious of all but a good dental routine helps maintain the health of your teeth. Daily brushing, flossing and even using a mouth wash can seem like a chore but it will help you in the long run. There are people out there who neglected their dental health who regret their decision today because they either have to deal with toothache or broken or chipped teeth.

Fluoride Can Help You

Only 3.7% of the population in British Columbia, including Surrey, have fluoridated water.

Because of this, the use of a toothpaste and mouthwash that contains fluoride is important. Fluoride helps prevent dental caries or cavities for both children and adults. Fluoride is especially important for children because it strengthens their teeth.

Biannual Dental Exams

Even with a good dental routine, you do still need to have your dental exam every six months. Because during these exams your dentist can catch any problems that you may have or that might come up in the future.

Ask Your Dentist!

We all have different sets of teeth and though we should follow the general guidelines such as maintaining a daily dental routine and such, there might be slight adjustments that we can make individually.

Assuming that you haven’t been missing your biannual dental exams, your dentist should have a good idea of the state of your dental health. They can tell you where you need to improve. Perhaps you need to consider switching toothbrush or your flossing technique needs to be improved. Whatever it is, your dentist will be able to tell you.
